Providing childcare in downtown Allentown for approximately 100 years, The Children’s Center offers early childhood programs from Primary (18 months) through Prekindergarten (5 years).
We know that our most important learning happens in our earliest years. We also know that these building-block years are critical to putting children on the path to happy, healthy, and successful lives. That’s why our centers are safe, fun, and inclusive. We emphasize learning through play, using hands-on activities to engage your child's interests and softly teach them the concepts that will benefit them for life. Each child is unique and our experienced educators inspire them to grow at their own pace.
We engage children through play, with fun, hands-on activities that nourish their academic and social growth.
We emphasize what our students can do, not what they can’t and give them the tools to respond to conflict with patience and reason.
Small-class sizes allow us to give each child individual attention while offering age-appropriate content to develop them from an academic, social, and emotional perspective.
We provide an atmosphere that is kind, inclusive, and always puts our children first, from our facilities to our teaching approach.
Our Programs
Unlike traditional day cares, we focus on learning and education with a curriculum that’s not only proven, researched, and data-driven, but that’s tailored to the various ages we serve.
Education is at the heart of everything we do, and it is most successful when it’s fun, rewarding, and age-based.
Toddlers are naturally curious. Their interests seem to grow as quickly as they do. As such, they most benefit from a variety of fun, hands-on, and age-appropriate activities that feed their interests while providing the comfort of consistency and routine.
Nurturing care and fun learning activities are blended to help your toddler develop a new sense of independence while supporting their social, emotional, and developmental growth.
Play dates are a great way for older toddlers to be social with children their age. But it’s also where they are faced with new challenges in sharing, patience, and cooperation. Our preschool prep program builds this groundwork, leading to successful organized activities and preparing them for the collaborative environment of preschool. We do so through hands-on activities that not only captivate their interest, but teach important concepts too, like teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking.
Preschoolers are full of energy and their minds are just as active. At this age, children are learning how to think critically and solve problems. Preschoolers thrive from a sense of accomplishment, so we provide activities that work their heads, hands, and hearts, helping to build their social connections and self esteem.Creativity is at the foundation of our teaching, providing an age-appropriate learning experience that emphasizes play while also building their language, science, art, and math skills.
For students who just miss the age cut off, we offer this transitional pre-K preparation program that bridges the gap between preschool and prekindergarten. It is intended for older three-year-olds who may have already completed preschool but have not yet had their fourth birthday. In our pre-K prep program, we build upon the preschool foundation in language, science, art, and math, while transitioning to more advanced lesson plans and learning experiences that prepare them for pre-K.
School-readiness is the focus of our prekindergarten program. Engaging lesson plans and unique learning experiences are more complex and relate to all aspects of a student’s academic journey. In addition, our program continues your child’s personal growth, so they are prepared to follow directions, raise their hands, and focus on group or independent activities.
Our before- and after-school programs combine recreation and fun with homework assistance to conveniently bridge the gap between your daily schedule and your child's. Full-time, part-time, and drop-in options are available and include half days, in-service days as well as snow-related closures, delays, or dismissals. Various snacks and meals are provided.
